Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve put together a list of common questions for those seeking therapy. Check out our FAQs to get some answers. If you need more information, don’t hesitate to contact us here.
-
Your first session is a gentle beginning. We’ll spend time getting to know you—your story, your hopes, your concerns, and the parts of you that are longing for care. There’s no pressure to share everything at once. Our role is to create a steady, compassionate space where you can begin to feel understood, supported, and connected. Together, we’ll explore what brings you in and map out a direction that honors your pace, your body, and your goals.
-
Some of our therapists accept insurance and others are private pay. Many clients choose to submit superbills to their insurance provider for potential reimbursement, and we’re happy to provide those upon request.
-
We accept payment at the time of each session through our secure client portal. We can also use a saved card on file. You can use a debit or credit card, HSA, or FSA. Billing happens automatically to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible.
-
There’s nothing you need to do perfectly or in advance. Simply come as you are. If it helps, you might jot down what’s been weighing on you, questions you have, or what you hope to feel different. Most importantly, bring the parts of you that are ready—or even hesitant—to begin. All of you is welcome here.
-
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. This protects your reserved time and allows us to offer that space to someone else who may need support. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are billed at the full session fee.
-
Our work is grounded in attachment-based, somatic, and trauma-informed therapy. We believe healing happens from the inside out, through compassionate connection, attending to the body’s wisdom, and integrating the many parts of your story. We focus on creating a relationship where you feel seen, safe, and understood—because real change grows in spaces of belonging.
-
Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach that helps you understand how emotions, trauma, and stress live in the nervous system—not just in your thoughts. Rather than talking about what hurts, we gently explore how your body holds and expresses that pain. Through grounding, breath, movement, and awareness, somatic therapy helps release stored tension, increase regulation, and restore a felt sense of safety. It’s a compassionate way of bringing your whole self—mind, body, and story—into the healing process.
-
Therapy often begins with subtle shifts: feeling more understood, more grounded in your body, or more compassionate toward the hurting parts of yourself. Over time, you may notice healthier patterns in relationships, less overwhelm, or a growing sense of inner belonging. Healing is rarely linear, but you’ll begin to sense that things inside are softening, integrating, and changing from the inside out.
-
It’s completely understandable to feel cautious. Many clients come to us after experiences that felt disconnected, rushed, or misattuned. We honor that hesitancy. Our work together moves at your pace, with your consent, and with deep respect for your story. You don’t have to trust us right away—we’ll earn that trust gently, through consistent presence, attunement, and genuine care.
-
Yes. Everything you share is private and protected, with only a few legal exceptions: if you are in immediate danger, if someone else is at risk, or if a court orders records. We’ll talk through these limits in your first session so you feel informed and safe.
-
Because therapy is licensed at the state level, we can only meet with clients who reside in North Carolina or Texas. If you’re outside of these states, we’d be glad to help you find a therapist in your area who offers similar attachment-based and somatic work. (You can explore short-term, goal-oriented coaching options with Eden here.)
-
We are not an emergency or crisis service. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent support, please call 988, contact local emergency services, or go to the nearest emergency room. Once you’re safe, we can reconnect and continue your therapeutic work together.
